Växjö is a town of art and culture. Växjö Art Site is located around Växjösjön and each piece of art is a perfect stop on your walk or run. Can you find the Mirror ball? The variegated but lovely family?
There is also a “Glass Street” in the city centre. From the Cathedral and to the end of Sandgärdsgatan you can see the work of Sweden’s world famous studio glass designers.
If you want to enjoy more glass, Sweden’s Glass museum is also here in Växjö! It’s a permanent exhibition at Kulturparken Småland.
There are two smaller lakes in the city centre, perfect for a run, a walk or some exercise. Around Växjösjön, it’s about five kilometers and around Trummen three kilometers. There are outdoor gyms at both lakes and at Växjösjön also an obstacle Cours. Welcome whenever you feel like it – it’s always open for everyone!

Växjö Cathedral is one of the most well known landmarks in Växjö. It was built in the late 12th Century and here, you will find a lot of wonderful art. The Cathedral is open every day.
Close to the cathedral is the Karoliner House from 1715 where Carl Linnaeus attended school.
Our many restaurants offer food from all corners of the world. The surrounding lakes, forests and meadows are a huge stockpile for all those who appreciate Småland gastronomy. Visit the Guide Michelin restaurant PM & Vänner, eat locally produced food and wine from small yards at Kafé de luxe or have dinner at Izakaya Moshi, a Japanese pub with both luxurious and simpler dishes.
Smålands Museum was founded already in 1867. This is the place to go if you want to take part of stories when people from Sweden, and especially Småland, went on the dangerous journey over the Atlantic Sea to emigrate to North America in the 19th and 20th centuries. During this period, 1,3 millions of Swedes emigrated to the US.
The museum also offer an interesting exhibition about the history of Swedish glas. Many of the real legends in the world of glass and glass art are today represented at this museum.
If you want to go shopping while in Växjö, you can either choose to do so in the city centre or at the shopping mall Grand Samarkand.
In Växjö you are always close to nature. The citylake Växjösjön is an oasis for reflection and recovery, but also a perfect place for a run or a walk. There are 29 nature reserves in the municipality and some of the most frequently visited are within walking or cycling distance from the centre of town, such as Bokhultet, Fyllerydsskogen, Kronoberg and Teleborg. In the town itself there are some pleasant parks like Linnéparken by the Cathedral.
