In Växjö you are always close to nature. There are 26 nature reserves and a few of the most frequently visited are within walking and cycling distance from the centre of town. In the town itself there are lots of pleasant parks, with play areas for children, coffee bars and restaurants. Yes, there is even a bathing area literally a stone’s throw from the market square. Växjö also have an urban farming are named Ekobacken (“the ecological hill”) where ecological vegetables are grown.

Växjö is a town of art and culture, with something for everyone. In the museum park we have Kulturparken Småland with Sweden’s Glass museum and the House of Emigrants. Just a stone’s throw from there is the Cathedral together with Karoliner House from 1715 where Carl Linnaeus attended school. The work of our world famous studio glass designers can be seen on the “Glass Street”, our Växjö Art Site starts in the city and takes us around the lakes. Right in the middle of town is the Växjö Concert Hall with its impressive Christina Nilsson salon, where concerts, theatre and musical productions succeed one another.

In Växjö you will find different sorts of shopping experiences. Växjö city is a shopping and meeting location where there is a lot going on. A variety of shops, restaurant and cafés are next to each other in the cozy. Here you can find a variety of shops, restaurant and cozy cafés. In the mainsquare (Stortorget) there is a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One of the town´s most visited locations recent years is Grand Samarkand. It has been named the best Shopping Center in the Nordic Countries.

Our many restaurants offer food from all corners of the world. The surrounding lakes, forests and meadows are a huge stockpile for all those who appreciate Småland gastronomy. The Sport City Växjö

Our modern arena city with stadiums for floorball, ice hockey, football and athletics are all world class. Växjö has teams in the highest series within ice hockey, Växjö Lakers, floorball, Växjö Vipers, ice bandy, Åby/Tjureda IF, and soccer, Växjö DFF. Växjö has been appointed “The best sports municipality” twice within five years.

Create an adventure and make a day trip to a place nearby Växjö. There is a lot of exciting spots in Småland, only 40 minutes by car. Visit the beautiful and unique lake archipelago Åsnen or book a thrilling nature adventure at Little Rock Lake, Europe´s longest zipline. If you are intresset in design the IKEA Museum, The Furniture District or The Kingdom of Crystal is a perfect place to visit. In Småland there also is the magical fairy tale theme park Astrid Lindgren´s world.
