Time for a Swedish fika.

Fika. That is the Swedish word you need to learn. We love our fika ("coffee break") and in Växjö there are several great places for a coffee break.

Swedish fika tradition

When being in Växjö and Sweden you will learn that fika (“coffee breaks”) is essential. In Växjö you will find old traditional cafés and modern coffee places. The Napoleon pastry (Cream Slice) was born almost 150 years ago at Växjö’s oldest patisserie Broqvists konditori.

There are also several bakeries in Växjö. If you are awake early in the morning, go for a walk through town and smell the freshly baked goods.

Enjoy your “Fika” in a café or bring it with you from a bakery and go for a picnic in Linnéparken or perhaps on the pier by the lake Växjösjön.
