Ekobacken (“the ecological hill”) in Växjö is a central urban farming area where ecological vegetables are grown. It is also a place for knowledge and togetherness – everyone can come here to shop vegetables and enjoy the beautiful environments. Since 2015 Ekobacken is KRAV-certified.
The cooperative Macken runs Ekobacken and arrange visits and outdoor-cooking for groups as time permits. A harvest festival, with sales, food, workshops, theatre and music, terminates the season in Ekobacken.
The grounds where Ekobacken lies is a part of cultural history environments with national interest and has been since 1935.
