If you have time to go a little bit further away, you can also explore the surroundings of Växjö. We highly recommend a day trip to The Kingdom of Crystal, National Park Åsnen, Huseby Manor or IKEA Museum in Älmhult.
There are two smaller lakes in the city centre, perfect for a run, a walk or some exercise. Around Växjösjön, it’s about five kilometers and around Trummen three kilometers. There are outdoor gyms at both lakes and at Växjösjön also an obstacle Cours. Welcome whenever you feel like it – it’s always open for everyone!
Växjö is a town of art and culture. Växjö Art Site is located around Växjösjön and each piece of art is a perfect stop on your walk or run. Can you find the Mirror ball? The variegated but lovely family?
There is also a “Glass Street” in the city centre. From the Cathedral and to the end of Sandgärdsgatan you can see the work of Sweden’s world famous studio glass designers.
If you want to enjoy more glass, Sweden’s Glass museum is also here in Växjö! It’s a permanent exhibition at Kulturparken Småland.

Växjö Cathedral is one of the most well known landmarks in Växjö. It was built in the late 12th Century and here, you will find a lot of wonderful art. The Cathedral is open every day.
Close to the cathedral is the Karoliner House from 1715 where Carl Linnaeus attended school.
The period of Emigration took place from 1850-1930. During this period, 1,3 millions of Swedes emigrated to the US. Here, in the House of Emigrants, you will find exhibitions, archives and research activities.
If you want to go shopping while in Växjö, you can either choose to do so in the city centre or at the shopping mall Grand Samarkand.
